In a crackdown on illegal encroachment, authorities today (28 June) reclaimed approximately 6.90 acres of forestland in Gazipur Sadar upazila, demolishing 205 unauthorised structures during a joint operation led by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
The drive was carried out in the Bokran Monipur area under Monipur Beat of the Rajendrapur Range in the Dhaka Forest Division, reads a press release.
Officials estimate the market value of the recovered land at around Tk35 crore.

Officials confirmed that further joint drives are planned across the country to curb forestland encroachment and to restore ecological balance in critical forest zones.
