After three days of moderate to mild cold wave, the temperature started increasing from yesterday (12 January).

"The temperature may decrease slightly in the northern towns tomorrow (14 January). However, the temperature may increase slightly in most areas, including Dhaka or may remain the same as today," Meteorologist M Hafizur Rahman said.

He said the country's minimum temperature today (13 January) has increased compared to yesterday. However, fog has fallen in various parts of the country since this morning.

According to Meteorological Office, the intensity of winter started increasing towards the end of last December and after a few days, it has decreased.

Today, the country's minimum temperature was recorded in Jessore, 10.8 degrees Celsius. Yesterday, the country's minimum temperature was recorded in Rajarhat, Kurigram, 10.2 degrees Celsius. Today, the temperature in this northern town has increased to 13.2 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in the areas known as the 'winter hotspots' of the country has also increased compared to yesterday.

Today, the minimum temperature in Tentulia of Panchagarh district was 12.7 degrees Celsius, compared to 10.5 degrees yesterday.  Today the temperature in Chuadanga is 11.5 degrees Celsius, yesterday it was 10.3 degrees. Today the minimum temperature in Srimangal in the tea zone  of  Moulvibazar was 12.6 degrees Celsius. Yesterday the temperature was about 2 degrees lower than that.

The minimum temperature in the capital has also increased today. According to the weather report, it is 15 degrees Celsius. Yesterday it was 14.5 degrees Celsius.

This year, there has been no continuous cold wave even during the winter. The cold is increasing and decreasing. This is happening because the maximum temperature of the day is high this year, Meteorologist Hafizur Rahman added.

"Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, having chances of light rain or drizzle at one or two places over Rangpur division", according to the forecast of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) that begins from 9am today.

Ridge of sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining area. Seasonal low lies over South Bay, extending its trough to North Bay.

Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the country during late night to early morning.

Night temperature may rise slightly over southern part and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country. Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The Sun sets today at 5:31pm and rises tomorrow at 6:43am in the capital.
