Rain likely across country for five days starting tomorrow: Met office
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Chattogram, Barishal, Khulna, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rainfall across the country for five consecutive days starting tomorrow (15 June), which may bring temporary relief from the ongoing heatwave in several regions.
According to a 120-hour weather outlook issued today (14 June), from 9am tomorrow over the next five days, scattered rain or thunder showers with gusty winds are expected in parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and at a few areas in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions. Some areas may witness moderate to heavy rainfall.
The BMD has also forecast that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Chattogram, Barishal, Khulna, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions during 72 hours starting from 10am on 16 June.
Due to very heavy rainfall, landslides may occur at places over the hilly districts of Chattogram, Rangamati, Bandarban, Khagrachari and Cox's Bazar. Besides, temporary waterlogging may occur at places over Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas.
Temporary gusty winds with thunder activity are also likely in several parts of the country. These conditions could help ease the prevailing heatwave, leading to a slight drop in daytime temperatures, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged.
The BMD noted that an extended low-pressure area is currently stretching from India's West Bengal across southwestern Bangladesh to the northwestern Bay of Bengal. The monsoon is presently less active over Bangladesh and remains weak to moderate over the northern Bay.
