‘Research on energy wastage reduction a must’
This is because the global gas reserve will run out after 70 years and so will the oil reserve, they say
Research on energy storage and reduction of its wastage is essential, said experts and academicians on Tuesday.
They made this comment at a scientific workshop in the capital organised by the Institute of Fuel Research and Development, a wing of the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
Siddique Zobair, a former member of the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority, and Dr Mohammad Ismail, an associate professor of Dhaka University, gave separate presentations on the prospect of renewable energy.

They said the reserve of the global gas fields will run out after 70 years and the same will happen to the reserve of oil.
This is why nanotechnology-based research on solar electricity, hydrogen and wind energy needs to be conducted, they added.
Md Faruque Ahmed, the chairman of the national scientific research organisation and regulatory body, was present at the workshop as the chief guest.
He said, "We are progressing with a specific work plan for the future need of the country's development. We need suggestions on this journey."
Among others, Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research member (development) Golam Rabbany, member (admin) Md Abdul Mabood, and member (finance) Muhammad Showkat Ali were present at the conference.
