Home ministry orders prioritising fuel supply for Ansar, VDP vehicles
The order noted that ensuring the smooth mobility of these forces is essential for national development and maintaining law and order.
The government has directed state-owned Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) to ensure priority supply of fuel to vehicles used by the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), citing the forces' critical role in maintaining national security and stability.
In an official order issued yesterday (22 April), the Ministry of Home Affairs said the directive aims to facilitate uninterrupted operations of Ansar and VDP members across the country. The instruction follows a request from the Department of Ansar and VDP.
According to the ministry, nearly 600,000 members of the Ansar and VDP are deployed nationwide, including around 450,000 engaged in various assignments. These forces play a key role in safeguarding important installations, supporting law enforcement, and contributing to overall security, particularly in remote and hilly regions.
The order noted that ensuring the smooth mobility of these forces is essential for national development and maintaining law and order. It emphasised that vehicles used by Ansar and VDP personnel should receive fuel on a priority basis to support their duties.
The notice was signed by an assistant secretary of the Security Services Division under the home ministry and has been forwarded to relevant authorities, including the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, for necessary action.
