Ctg SP orders 24/7 monitoring of fuel pumps to curb irregularities
He warned that any discrepancies, irregularities, or attempts to conceal information would result in immediate legal action.
Chattogram District Police has directed officers-in-charges (OCs) of all police stations to ensure round-the-clock monitoring of petrol pumps and fuel storage facilities across the district, amid concerns over potential irregularities in supply and pricing.
The directive came from Superintendent of Police Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan, who carried out surprise inspections in key areas under Sitakunda Police Station today (30 March), according to a press release.
During the drive, the SP verified fuel stock levels at several pumps and examined registers to review supply and sales records. He warned that any discrepancies, irregularities, or attempts to conceal information would result in immediate legal action.
Speaking directly with pump owners, employees, transport operators and drivers, the SP said hoarding, creation of artificial shortages, overpricing, or misuse of fuel would not be tolerated.
"Anyone involved in illegal stockpiling, black marketing, or irregular practices in fuel distribution will face strict legal action without exception," he said.
Under the new directive, all OCs have been instructed to conduct regular inspections of fuel stations in their respective jurisdictions throughout the day and at night. Police officials have also been asked to closely monitor stock, sales and supply conditions, and take immediate action if any irregularities are detected.
They have been further directed to promptly verify any complaints related to fuel and report to higher authorities, ensuring strict enforcement with no leniency for violators.
Police officials said monitoring and enforcement activities will be intensified further to ensure an uninterrupted fuel supply in the public interest, with strict legal measures continuing against any form of malpractice.
