Eight Bangladeshi journalists named for CPRD–TCW Reporting Fellowship 2025
The fellowship aims to strengthen climate journalism in Bangladesh by supporting in-depth, evidence-based reporting ahead of COP30
The Center for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) and The Climate Watch (TCW) have selected eight Bangladeshi journalists for the CPRD–TCW Reporting Fellowship 2025.
The fellowship aims to strengthen climate journalism in Bangladesh by supporting in-depth, evidence-based reporting ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), scheduled to take place in Brazil's Belém this month, reads a press release.
The selected journalists are: Sajibur Rahman (The Financial Express), Mehedi Al Amin (Protidiner Bangladesh), Rukaia Islam (Alap), Raihan Ahmad (Jagonews24.com), Md Asaduz Zaman (The Daily Star), Mizanur Rahman Yousuf (The Business Standard), Sheikh Tanjir Ahmed (Banglanews24.com), and Naushad Ali Husein (freelance journalist).
This year's open call for applications drew nearly twice as many submissions as in 2024, reflecting growing interest among Bangladeshi journalists in climate and environmental reporting.
Following a rigorous selection process, eight journalists were chosen for their strong story ideas focused on key themes such as climate finance, loss and damage, just transition, biodiversity, renewable energy, and community resilience.
Through mentorship and editorial support, the fellows will produce high-impact stories in Bangla or English, linking Bangladesh's climate realities to the global narrative.
Launched in 2024, the joint initiative by CPRD and TCW supports Bangladeshi journalists in covering global climate negotiations and translating complex policy issues into accessible, impactful storytelling.
The programme underscores both organisations' shared commitment to amplifying voices from the Global South and ensuring that Bangladesh's climate challenges, innovations, and leadership are well represented in global climate discussions.
