Ehsanul Haque appointed public administration secretary after post remained vacant for 20 days
The interim government has appointed Md Ehsanul Haque, senior secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division (RTHD), as the new senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration.
Today (12 October), the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification appointing a new secretary, 21 days after transferring the previous senior secretary.
Earlier, on 21 September, the ministry's then senior secretary, Md Mokhlesur Rahman, was transferred to the Planning Commission as a member.
During Mokhlesur Rahman's tenure, the ministry reportedly experienced a period of administrative disorder involving transfers, postings, and promotions within the public administration. Allegations of irregularities in the appointment of deputy commissioners (DCs) were also raised against him.
Since his transfer, the post of senior secretary of the Public Administration Ministry has remained vacant.
Ehsanul Haque, who has been serving as senior secretary of the RTHD since August last year, was appointed on a contractual basis following the change of government on 5 August 2024.
