SSC 2026: Sylhet Board records 58.33% SSC pass rate, 3,836 secure GPA-5
A total of 89,421 students from 973 educational institutions under the Sylhet Education Board appeared for the SSC examinations this year.
The pass rate in this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations under the Sylhet Education Board stood at 58.33%, with 3,836 students securing GPA-5.
Professor Bilkis Yasmin, controller of Examinations at the Sylhet Education Board, officially announced the results at the board's conference room at 10am today (10 August).
A total of 89,421 students from 973 educational institutions under the Sylhet Education Board appeared for the SSC examinations this year. Of them, 51,957 students passed.

Female students outperformed their male counterparts in both the pass rate and the number of GPA-5 results.
The pass rate declined by 10.24 percentage points compared to last year, when it stood at 68.57%.
However, the number of GPA-5 recipients increased by 222 this year, from 3,614 last year to 3,836.
Students from nine institutions achieved a 100% pass rate this year.
According to board sources, the number of candidates sitting for the examination this year was 12,798 fewer than last year.
Of the 89,421 candidates, 53,891 were female and 35,530 were male.
Among the four districts under the board, Sunamganj recorded the highest pass rate, while Moulvibazar had the highest number of GPA-5 recipients.
In Sylhet district, the largest number of candidates- 35,331 appeared for the examination.
Of them, 14,321 were male and 21,010 were female. Students from 367 educational institutions took the examination at 94 centres.
Moulvibazar had 19,913 candidates, including 7,631 male and 12,282 female students.
Students from 198 institutions appeared at 37 examination centres.
A total of 18,383 candidates from Sunamganj took part in the examination, including 7,515 male and 10,868 female students.
They represented 234 institutions and sat for the examination at 45 centres.
In Habiganj, 15,794 candidates appeared, including 6,063 male and 9,731 female students. Students from 174 institutions took the examination at 49 centres.
Last year, the pass rate under the Sylhet Education Board was 68.57%, compared with 73.35% in 2024. The pass rate therefore fell by 4.78 percentage points in 2025 compared to 2024.
The number of GPA-5 recipients also declined last year, falling to 3,614 from 5,471 in 2024, a decrease of 1,857.
A total of 102,219 students appeared for the SSC examinations last year, of whom 70,091 passed and 32,128 failed, representing a failure rate of 31.43%.
