Students will only be able to apply for admission into government schools online, and a special software will be used for the lottery process

The admission process into government high schools in the capital city will begin from 15 December this year, and the process will be carried out through a lottery system from Class I to Class IX.
To this end, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education on Wednesday sent a proposal to the education ministry for setting the lottery draw on 30 December.
Students will only be able to apply for admission into government schools online, and a special software will be used for the lottery process, ministry sources said.
Professor Syed Golam Faruk, director general of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, told The Business Standard that they will issue a notice after getting the ministry's approval to start the admission process.
There are 39 government secondary institutions in Dhaka with 11,500 seats. The catchment area will be 50% instead of 40%. In the case of cluster-based admission, the student will be able to select five schools in the lottery.
