Professor Sayema Haque Bidisha has been appointed as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (administration) of Dhaka University.

The tenure of her appointment will be four years from the date of her joining office, according to an education ministry gazette, signed by deputy secretary Md Shahinur Islam, following the directive of President Mohammed Shahabuddin, chancellor of the university.

Professor Sayema Haque did her bachelor's as well as master's from Dhaka University's economics department. Later, she did her MSc from the University of Bath, UK and PhD in Labour Economics from the University of Nottingham, UK.

Earlier, she served as Research Director at South Asian Network on Economic Modelling, Dhaka from 2026 to 2024. She also served as visiting scholar at the Economics department of Concordia University, Canada.

Besides, Dr Bidisha worked on various research projects on labour market, demographic dividend and youth population, skill and education, gender and women empowerment, gender budgeting, migration and remittance earning, credit and food security, poverty and vulnerability, SDG financing, and financial inclusion.

In addition, Dr Bidisha also contributed to preparing various policy documents and government flagship programs. She worked with various international and UN agencies.
