Police foil NU students’ attempt to block Shahbagh, 11 detained
Eleven students were detained from there and others were dispersed
Police have foiled an attempt of National University students, who tried to block capital's Shahbagh intersection in protest against the government decision of examination postponement.
Eleven students were detained from there and others were dispersed.
Seven arrestees were identified as Kawser Ahmedm, student of Tejgaon College, Hasan Al Mehedi, Shah didar, student of Titumir College, Al Amin Mina and Sagor student of Siddeswari College, Mohammad Sajal Miah, student of Khilgaon Model College and Mirajul Islam, student of Hazi Selim College.

They have been taken to the office of Detective Branch of Police.
In a Facebook live from police van, Mina Al Amin, who claimed himself as central convenor of National University Students' Oikya Parishad, said, "We came to Shahbagh to stage protest, but we are now being taken to Shahbagh police station. Please all come here."
Additional policemen have been deployed in Shahbagh area to avert any untoward situation.
However, New Market Zone Assistant Commissioner Abul Hasan told The Business Standard that it was misunderstanding between policemen and the students.
Meanwhile, another group students numbering around 100, is holding protest rally in front of Shahbagh Police Station in the banner of general students of National University.
The protest rally was obstructed by police. The students are now staging demonstration in front of Shahbagh Police Station.
Earlier on 22 February, the National University authorities postponed all sorts of examinations until further notice.
On the same day, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said the government has decided to reopen the public and private universities on 24 May. The residential halls of public universities will be reopened on 17 May.
