There is no alternative to education in eradicating poverty, Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder said today (8 February).

"Eradicating poverty and inequality is still our biggest challenge. There is no alternative to education in eradicating poverty," he said while delivering the presiding address at the 12th convocation ceremony of Daffodil International University at Daffodil Smart City in Birulia, Savar.

The adviser presided over the convocation as the representative of the President Mohammed Shahabuddin.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University Dr Md Sabur Khan and Daffodil International University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M Lutfar Rahman addressed the event, among others while former Prime Minister of Lebanon Prof Hassan Diab spoke on the occasion as the convocation speaker.

The university awarded degrees to 3,951 graduates this year.

The adviser presented gold medals in various categories to 12 graduates for their outstanding results. He also participated in the convocation parade.

Dr Bidhan urged the students to utilize their acquired knowledge with honesty and dedication to change the fate of the people of the country and develop the nation as well.

He called upon the new graduates to prepare them for facing the challenges of the world.

He mentioned that today's youths have the power to build a just society in this country in the days to come.

Noting that education can prepare the new generation as the builders of modern Bangladesh, he stressed on updating the education system of the country.

He hoped that all will be educated with modern world-class education, knowledge and technology to work sincerely for the country's betterment being imbued with moral values and patriotism.
