BUP has introduced this software to make the online BUP education program more up-to-date and to conduct online classes smoothly amid any kind of global adverse situation like coronavirus

BUP launches software to update online education

Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) has introduced a comprehensive learning management system (CLMS), remote proctoring and plagiarism checker to make its online education programme more up-to-date during the time of a disaster like Covid-19 pandemic.

The inauguration of this software was held on Tuesday maintaining social distancing at Bijoy Auditorium of the BUP in Mirpur Cantonment in the capital, said a press release issued by the Inter-Services  Public Relations (ISPR). 

The software facilitates conducting online classes, exchanging information between teachers and students, reporting on overall academic progress of students, managing each teacher and student profile, uploading videos, taking any kind of exams and managing them by remote proctoring.

It will also verify the originality and clarity of writings like thesis, term papers and assignments through 'Turn it in' plagiarism checker app. Besides, this new platform will help to conduct academic activities related to education and research.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni and Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury were present at the inaugural ceremony, while BUP Vice-chancellor Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan supervised the overall programme.

Vertical wind turbine installed at BUP

Meanwhile, the inaugural ceremony of the installation of 5KW vertical wind turbine "Onuva" was held on the BUP Campus on Monday, said a press release of the ISPR.

This vertical wind turbine is a step towards achieving the goal of renewable power supply by using nature's wind energy through tolerant structures by reducing energy dependence.

While inaugurating the installation of Onuva at the BUP Plaza, State Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said the country is moving forward towards fulfilling the Vision-2021 even amid this global pandemic.

"We are working vehemently to increase the supply of electricity among all the people in Bangladesh, import liquefied natural gas to meet the energy demand and distribute solar home systems and also increase gas production" he said.

He further said this innovative technology of bio power generation of the BUP will definitely play an important role in making us self-reliant.
