Bangladeshi student enrollment in Malaysia rises by 45%: Malaysian education body chief
He further noted that the majority of Bangladeshi students are enrolled in private universities.
The number of Bangladeshi students pursuing higher education in Malaysia has increased significantly, with a reported 45% rise compared to last year, according to Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS).
The information was shared by EMGS Chief Executive Officer Novie Tajuddin at a joint networking meeting between Bangladeshi and Malaysian universities held at the University Grants Commission (UGC) today (18 May).
He said Malaysia has become an increasingly attractive destination for Bangladeshi students due to its internationally recognised education system, modern academic environment, relatively affordable tuition fees, and safe, multicultural atmosphere.
According to him, a total of 11,401 Bangladeshi students are currently studying at various higher education institutions in Malaysia. This places Bangladesh among the top three countries in terms of international student enrolment in Malaysia.
He further noted that the majority of Bangladeshi students are enrolled in private universities.
The meeting, organised to strengthen networking between universities in Bangladesh and Malaysia, also discussed expanding academic cooperation, research collaboration, scholarship opportunities, and student exchange programmes.
Officials emphasised that the growing number of Bangladeshi students reflects increasing trust in Malaysia's higher education system and highlights the expanding scope of educational cooperation between the two countries.
