The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council approved five projects worth Tk5,915.99 crore today (25 November).

The government will finance Tk1,095.94 crore, while foreign financing will be Tk4787.50 crore and Tk32.55 crore will be from agencies concerned.

The approval was given at a meeting presided over by Chief Adviser and ECNEC Chairperson Dr Muhammad Yunus at the NEC Conference Room on Planning Commission premises in the capital.

Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud briefed journalists at NEC Committee Room-1 after the meeting.

The approved projects are- extension and improvement of Eastern grid network of power, energy and minerals ministry, "Capacity Building of Universities in Bangladesh to Promote Youth Entrepreneurship" project of the education ministry, modern waste and oil removal management project of Mongla Port by the shipping ministry, Chattogram sewerage system development (catchment 2 and 4) project by local Government, rural development and cooperatives ministry and emergency multi-sector Rohingya crisis response (2nd amendment) project by disaster management and relief ministry. 

Besides, deadlines of two more projects have been extended without increasing the cost at the meeting.
