EC appoints 69 returning officers, including its own officials, for national polls, referendum
A total of 69 returning officers, including three officials from the Election Commission, will oversee the upcoming national election and referendum.
The information was confirmed yesterday (11 December) by EC Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain.
According to Monir Hossain, divisional commissioners of Dhaka and Chattogram, the deputy commissioners (DCs) of all 64 districts, and three officials of the EC Secretariat will serve as returning officers, bringing the total to 69.
The much-anticipated 13th National Election and the referendum on the "July National Charter (Constitutional Reform) Implementation Order 2025" will be held on 12 February next year. Voting will take place continuously from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
"The Dhaka Regional Election Officer will serve as the returning officer for Dhaka-13 and Dhaka-15," said Mohammad Monir Hossain.
He added that Chattogram Regional Election Officer will be returning officer for Chattogram-11 and the Khulna Regional Election Officer will oversee Khulna-3.
Alongside them, the divisional commissioners of Dhaka and Chattogram, and all 64 district commissioners will also perform returning officer duties.
