DUTA calls for moral education and speedy trial of rapists

Moral education should be in the syllabus from school and the rapists should be punished in a speedy trial tribunal.

The Dhaka University Teachers' Association (DUTA) raised the demands today at a human chain against violence, rape and torture against women at the Aparajeyo Bangla on the campus.

DUTA president Lutfar Rahman said, "Rape is on the rise in Bangladesh at a time when the world was behaving humanely because of coronavirus pandemic. We have not yet seen any notable action from the administration in this regard. On the other hand, the anti-rape movement is being obstructed by the law enforcement. It is never expected."

"We demand that the rapists must be punished swiftly and measures be taken by the government to prevent such crimes in the future," he added.
