Ducsu results corrected after discrepancies found
Election authorities apologise, describe it as an ‘unintentional error’ stemming from fatigue

The Dhaka University election authorities have published corrected consolidated results of the Ducsu election after discrepancies were identified between the central tally and hall-wise outcomes for 18 candidates.
Chief Returning Officer Professor Jasim Uddin issued a statement tonight acknowledging the inconsistencies, attributing them to "human exhaustion caused by uninterrupted work." He clarified that mistakes occurred during the compilation of the central results.
Prof Jasim, however, said the centre-wise figures for both Ducsu and hall union elections remain final and unchanged.
According to the statement, errors occurred while adding results from eight polling centres to prepare the consolidated Ducsu tally. The election authorities described the incident as an "unintentional error" stemming from fatigue and apologised sincerely.
The discrepancies first came to light when results from 18 halls, published on the university's website yesterday, showed that nine candidates had been credited with more votes in the central tally, while nine others had been given fewer. The inconsistencies triggered frustration among candidates, many of whom voiced their grievances on social media.
The central results had initially been declared on 10 September, a day after voting took place, at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.
