‘Droho Parishad’ becomes first panel to enter Cucsu election race
On the opening day, the panel collected 14 nomination papers, with leaders saying the full lineup would be finalised within the next two days.
 
Marking the first official panel in the race, 'Droho Parishad' has collected nomination papers for the Chattogram University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) election. Formed jointly, the panel brings together the CU chapters of Bangladesh Chhatra Union and Socialist Students' Front.
On the opening day, the panel collected 14 nomination papers, with leaders saying the full lineup would be finalised within the next two days.
For the post of vice president, Rijulakkhi Abarodh, a student of the Department of Theatre Studies (2017–18 session) and general secretary of CU Socialist Students' Front, will contest.
For the general secretary post, Bangladesh Chhatra Union CU unit general secretary Ifaz Uddin Imu, a student of Banking and Insurance (2018–19 session), will run.
Additionally, Sheikh Junayed Kabir, a student of International Relations (2020–21 session) and office secretary of CU Chhatra Union, will contest for joint general secretary.
The development was confirmed yesterday, around 12:30pm, by Ifaz Uddin Ahmed Imu. Speaking about his candidacy, he said, "After 36 long years, the Chattogram University student union election is finally taking place. We are very optimistic. Whether we win or not, we are determined to work on the long-standing issues of the university, such as housing, transportation, and food."
Meanwhile, the Chattogram University unit of Students' Rights Council has also announced its panel name for the Cucsu polls, titled 'Cucsu for Rapid Change'.
The matter was confirmed late Saturday night, around 12:30am, by Mohammad Roman Rahman, member secretary of the CU unit of Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad.
"We are preparing to form an inclusive panel. Anyone who wishes can join us. Even leading positions can be determined through discussion. Within a day or two, we will collect nomination papers and announce the full panel," he said.
