Dr Parveen Hasan, vice-chancellor of Central Women's University, has been elected as the new chairperson of the trustee board of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB).

She will succeed Advocate Sultana Kamal by assuming the post on February 22.

Besides, former cabinet secretary Ali Imam Majumder has been elected as the new general secretary, while Professor Dr Tasneem Siddiqui and Susmita Chakma have been elected as the new members of the board.

Decisions regarding all these elections were taken with unanimous consent in the 103rd meeting of the board on Wednesday.

Noted educationist Dr Parveen is a former teacher of Islamic history and culture department at Dhaka University. She earned her doctorate degree on Islamic architecture from Harvard University in USA.

Dr Tasneem Siddiqui is a professor of Political Science Department at Dhaka University. She also the head of the Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit.

Dr Tasneem earned her PhD degree from the Griffith University in Australia.  

Advocate Susmita Chakma had her LLB and LLM degrees from Dhaka University, and became the first female lawyer from the small ethnic communities in Chattogram. She has been working for a long time now to ensure human rights, good governance and women's rights – especially the equal rights of the women in the small ethnic groups.
