Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali has been promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a gazette notification signed by Deputy Secretary Mahbubur Rahman in this regard today (23 March).

According to the notification, in accordance with the application and judgment of Administrative Tribunal-1, DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali, who was employed on a contractual basis, has been retrospectively promoted to the rank of Additional Inspector General of Police (Grade-2) from 18 January 2010, Additional Inspector General of Police (Grade-1) from 18 July 2013, Inspector General of Police (Self-Employed) from 30 December 2014, and Inspector General of Police (rank) from 12 January 2017.
