Deputy secretary reprimanded for joining school management committee without permission
Md Mamun Mia is currently serving as chief revenue officer of DNCC.
The government has reprimanded a deputy secretary for taking the post of president of a school management committee without approval from the authorities.
Md Mamun Mia, currently serving as chief revenue officer of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), received the punishment through a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration yesterday (6 November).
An inquiry found him guilty of misconduct, following which the authorities imposed a reprimand, a minor penalty.
The punishment stems from his tenure as director (deputy secretary) of the Department of Environment's Dhaka metropolitan office, during which he took charge as president of the management committee of Ghorashal Kartatail Adarsha High School in Narsingdi for two consecutive terms without permission.
According to the notification, holding a position in another organisation without approval was proven in a preliminary inquiry conducted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
It says this act constitutes a violation of the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules and misconduct under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules.
In light of these findings, a departmental case was filed on 19 February and Mamun was served with a show-cause notice.
After Mamun submitted a written response and requested a personal hearing, an inquiry officer was appointed to investigate the allegations.
The inquiry found him guilty of misconduct, after which a reprimand, a minor penalty, was imposed.
