DB chief Rezaul transferred to DMP HQ

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has removed Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallick from the post of the chief of the DMP Detective Branch (DB).
Rezaul has been attached to DMP Headquarters till further notice, according to an office order signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali yesterday (13 April).
The order came to light today (13 April).
The DB chief's post was empty for almost a month after 5 August last year following the ouster of the Awami League government in a mass uprising.
Recently, the DB came under severe criticism after detaining former Miss Earth Bangladesh winner and model Meghna Alam from her home on 10 April over unclear charges.
Rezaul, a member of the 17th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (Police), was made the DB chief on 1 September last year.
He joined the Bangladesh Police in 1998.
Before becoming the DB chief, Rezaul played various roles within the police force, including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
