Cumilla UP member murder: Prime accused arrested from Dhaka's Moghbazar
On 5 August, the victim’s son filed a murder case with the Nangalkot Police Station, naming Farid as the prime accused.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested an individual in connection with the brutal murder of Union Parishad member Alauddin of Cumilla's Nangalkot upazila.
"Sheikh Farid, 45, the prime accused, was detained early hours of today from the capital's Moghbazar rail gate area," RAB-11's Company Commander Major Sadman Ibn Alam said at a press briefing today (9 August).
According to Major Sadman, a long-standing family dispute had been ongoing between two families in Aliyara village of Nangalkot. On 25 July, a clash erupted between them over feeding grass to cattle. That day, several rounds of violence left 15 people shot and a total of 25 injured from both sides.
In continuation of the dispute, on the afternoon of 3 August, Alauddin was returning home after attending his cousin's funeral prayer when unidentified Individuals forced him into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, shot him, and stabbed him to death.
On 5 August, the victim's son filed a murder case with the Nangalkot Police Station, naming Farid as the prime accused.
Tensions remain high in Aliara village following the incident. Fearing further clashes, many residents have fled their homes and taken shelter elsewhere.
Farid, son of Abul Khayer, is a resident of the same village.
