Man arrested in Ctg on charges of raping disabled teenager
Police have filed a case and investigation is underway
Police arrested a man on charges of raping a physically disabled teenager inside a rented house in the Bakalia area of Chattogram yesterday (31 May).
The accused, Mohammad Jamal, alias Jafar, 32, was arrested from the crime scene at Nasir's Colony in the Chaktay Bhera Market area under Bakalia Police Station, authorities said.
Jamal, originally from Char Fakirhat in Bhola district, had been residing in Kalam's Colony near Bhera Market in the port city.
According to a press release issued by the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) last night, the arrest was made around 4pm following a swift operation.
Following his arrest, Jamal was produced before a Chattogram court after the completion of necessary legal formalities.
The incident has sparked concern in the locality as it involves a minor girl with disabilities. Police have filed a case and investigation is underway.
