Youth arrested over alleged rape of woman after abduction from Barishal
Sohel was arrested from Beribadh area in Hazaribagh last night, said RAB
Rapid Action Batallion-2 members have arrested an accused from the capital's Hazaribagh area in a case filed with Airport Police Station in Barishal over raping a woman after abducting her from the district.
The arrestee was identified as Md Sohel Hawladar, 30.
Sohel was arrested from Beribadh area in Hazaribagh last night, said RAB.

Contacted, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police of RAB-2 Asif Topu told TBS that legal proceedings are underway against the accused.
According to the case statement, Sohel and the victim had known each other previously.
On 26 December 2024, Sohel abducted the woman and took her to Barishal Launch Ghat from her house after deceiving her by offering to eat at the local Baraizzarhat Bazar, the case statement said.
Later, Sohel brought the woman to Dhaka after giving her various threats. From 27 December to 9 February, Sohel confined the woman at various places in Dhaka and raped her multiple times, the case statement added.
As the victim fell seriously ill on 9 February, Sohel brought her back to Barishal, left her on the road at Kagashura Bazar under Kaunia Police Station, and fled.
Later, the victim lodged a case with Barishal's Airport Police Station against Md Sohel Hawladar.
Based on the case, RAB arrested Sohel from the capital's Hazaribagh area.
