2 held over attack on Sohagh Paribahan counters in Malibagh

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two individuals, including the prime accused, in connection with the attack on Sohagh Paribahan counters in the capital's Malibagh area.
The arrestees are identified as Billal Talukder and Bappi. Billal was arrested from the Hatijheel's Ambagan area, while Bappi from the Keraniganj Model Town today (6 September), said RAB Wing Commander MZM Intekhab Chowdhury, director (legal and media wing).
He said a group of 30–35 people launched a coordinated attack on two Sohagh Paribahan counters in Malibagh area's DIT Road around 11pm on 3 September.
"The attackers were armed with sharp weapons, including machetes, cleavers, and locally made blades," he added.
Following the incident, Sohagh Paribahan's security officer filed a case with Ramna Model Police Station on 4 September, naming 16 individuals and accusing another 15–20 unidentified.
"After the case was filed, RAB intensified intelligence operations, analysed CCTV footage, and used technological means to identify and trace the accused. Based on this, the two arrests were made," said the RAB official.
He added that the arrestee will be handed over to Ramna Police Station for further legal proceedings.
