Two journalists were injured in an attack in Dhaka's Motijheel area on Saturday night (30 August).
Redwanul Haque, senior reporter of DBC News, and AZ Bhuiyan Anas, journalist at Kalbela, were admitted to Mugda General Hospital following the incident which took place around 8:30pm in front of a building behind Bangladesh Bank.
The matter was reported to the police, who later arrived at the scene, but no arrests have been made so far.
Speaking to The Business Standard, Motijheel Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mejbah Uddin said, "We sent a team to the spot immediately after receiving information. Additional forces will be deployed if necessary."
Redwanul told TBS that he and his colleague were sitting near the building when a man asked them to leave. When they refused, an altercation broke out, after which 8-10 more individuals allegedly joined in and attacked them with sticks. Redwanul said he sustained injuries to his hand, head, and back.
