Tk16 lakh stolen from Krishi Bank locker in Khulna
Police said the theft had occurred at any time between Thursday afternoon (14 August) and 10:30pm last night (15 August)

A group of criminals broke into the locker of Krishi Bank in Rupsha Upazila in Khulna and stole nearly Tk16 lakh.
Police said the theft had occurred at any time between Thursday afternoon (14 August) and 10:30pm last night (15 August).
Rupsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman said, "The bank closed on Thursday afternoon. Between then and 10:30pm last night, the robbery may have taken place. We have collected CCTV footage from the bank and surrounding areas, which is being analysed. Whoever is involved in this incident will not be spared."
According to bank officials and local sources, the bank had closed on Thursday afternoon, the last working day of the week, and no security guard was on duty that night.
Around 10pm last night, a security guard noticed the lock on the bank's main collapsible gate had been cut and raised an alarm. Locals rushed in and informed Rupsha Police Station, who arrived at the scene and began an investigation.
Bank sources confirmed that approximately Tk16 lakh was stolen from the branch.
The OC added that preliminary investigations suggest the criminals took advantage of the bank's security lapse and that there was no guard on duty the night of the incident.
