The injured officer, Israfill Hossain (48), was part of a DB team attempting to detain a suspect in an ongoing case.

A sub-inspector (SI) of the Detective Branch (DB) of police was injured in Kushtia after being attacked allegedly with a boti knife by the son of a local Awami League leader.
The incident occurred around 12:00pm today (26 July) in the Chhay Rastar Mor area of the town.
The injured officer, Israfill Hossain (48), was part of a DB team attempting to detain a suspect in an ongoing case.
As police entered the house of Harun-ur-Rashid, 50, a vice-president of the town unit of the Awami League, his son Pronoy, 25, allegedly attacked SI Israfill from behind with a sharp weapon, seriously injuring him.
Confirming the incident, DB Kushtia Officer-in-Charge (OC) Murad Hossain said that both the father and the son were involved in the attack and have been taken into custody.
According to police and local sources, Harun-ur-Rashid was being treated as a suspect in a criminal case, prompting the DB team to surround his residence for an arrest.
Following the attack, additional police personnel arrived at the scene and rescued the injured officer. SI Israfill was immediately admitted to Kushtia General Hospital.
Dr Hossain Imam, the hospital's resident medical officer (RMO), confirmed that the police officer sustained two sharp wounds on his back.
"He has been given initial medical treatment and is under observation," the doctor said.
OC Murad said legal action is being taken against those involved for attacking a police officer in the line of duty.
However, authorities have not disclosed details about the specific case under which Harun-ur-Rashid was being arrested.
