Investigators said four day remand of MA Awal completed on Tuesday. He might give a confessional statement before the court on Wednesday. Police and RAB have already arrested 10 persons including former MP MA Awal; four of them have given confessional statements before the court.

Ahsan Khan, additional deputy commissioner of DB told the Business Standard that a dispute occurred between MA Awal, managing director of Haveli Properties Developer Limited and former lawmaker from Lakshmipur-1 constituency, and Sahinuddin during construction of a boundary gate and pillar in Alinagar project of the developer company. Following the dispute, MA Awal ordered Monir to murder Sahinuddin.

"The killing mission was finalised at Awal's Kalabagan office before five days of Eid. Awal gave TK 20,000 to Monir in order to kill Sahinuddin. He also assured Monir, 'after completing the mission I will reward you'. Monir, Taher, Kibriya, Sojib, Titu and Babu were present in the meeting," he added.

At an informal press briefing on Tuesday, M Hafiz Akter, additional commissioner of DB said that 10 persons were arrested in connection with the murder. Among them, four have given confessional statements admitting their involvement.

According to investigators, Sumon has a gang of 50 members. They used to control land grabbing at Pallabi area at Mirpur in the capital. The gang had been working for the developer company to grab land. Sumon was permanent site manager of Haveli Properties Developer Limited. Sumon had been working for MA Awal for the last three years.

Investigator also took statements of Sahinuddi's son, wife and other family members on Monday.

According to Sumon's confessional statement, Awal had enmity with the victim over land for a long time. Since he failed to grab the victim's land, he plotted to kill him. They killed Sahinuddin being instructed by Awal.

Sahin was killed on 16 May by a terrorist group reportedly led by Sumon. He was hacked to death with a machete in front of his seven-year-old son outside his house in Pallabi. Monir and Manik have been killed in 'gunfights' with police after the murder in the capital.
