A couple was attacked with a sharp weapon by a group of robbers last night (23 February) in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga, police said.

The incident occurred around 9:30pm on the Harishchandrapur-Sorabaria road when the robbers ambushed Sagor and his wife while they were returning home on a motorcycle.

However, when locals responded to their cries for help, the robbers fled, leaving behind their motorcycle.

The police later seized the motorcycle and sent Sagar to the Damurhuda Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

Dr Saiful Islam, an official at the health complex, said that Sagor received six stitches for an injury to his neck.

After treatment, he was discharged.

Shahid Titumir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Darshana Police Station, said they are investigating the incident and using the abandoned motorcycle to identify the robbers.
