bKash agent hacked in Dhaka's Adabar; assailants flee with Tk3 lakh, mobile phone
Two youths attacked him and fled with cash and the mobile phone used for bKash transactions.
An agent of the mobile financial service bKash was hacked and robbed of cash and a mobile phone in broad daylight in the capital's Adabar area today (16 June).
Adabar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jahidul Islam Jahangir said police have identified two young men involved in the incident and are conducting drives to arrest them.
The injured bKash agent, Shafiqul Islam, 39, is currently undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor).
The incident took place at around 11am at the victim's shop on Shekertek Road No 7, when two youths attacked him and fled with Tk3 lakh in cash and the mobile phone used for bKash transactions.
According to the victim's brother, Muslim Hossain, the two youths entered the shop and attempted to forcibly take money from the cash counter.
When Shafiqul resisted, they attacked him with sharp weapons, injuring his hand and other parts of his body before fleeing with the cash and mobile phone, he said.
