RAB arrests three accused in Cox's Bazar triple murder case

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today (26 April) arrested three accused in connection with the case of a triple murder following an alleged land dispute in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar.
The arrests were made early this morning during an operation based on a tip-off in the Patabari area of Haldiyapalong Union, said RAB-15 Assistant Superintendent of Police and Assistant Director (Law and Media) AM Faruk.
The arrested individuals are Abul Fazal Babul; Mahmudul Haque; and Md Raihan.
All three are sons of Nazir Hossain and residents of Kutupalong West Para, in Rajpalong union.
According to ASP Faruk, the three are directly involved in the killings of Abdul Mannan, Rowshan Ara, and Shahina Akter, who were among four people killed in a clash on 6 April.
RAB officials said they received information about the presence of several accused individuals at a house in Patabari. When a RAB team surrounded the house, the suspects attempted to flee. After a chase, three were detained.
The process of handing over the arrested individuals to Ukhiya Police Station was underway following initial interrogation, Faruk added.
On 6 April, during a violent clash between two families over an alleged land dispute, three people, including a local Jamaat-e-Islami leader, were killed and several others injured. One of the injured later died while undergoing treatment.
Two cases have been filed: one concerning the deaths of Abdul Mannan, Rowshan Ara, and Shahina Akter, and another over the death of Jamaat leader Abdullah Al Mamun.
