Probe report in Chankharpul crimes against humanity case 22 April

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today set April 22 for submitting probe report in a crimes against humanity case filed over atrocities that took place in the city's Chankharpul area during the student-led July-August mass uprising.
"The three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order, allowing a time plea of the prosecution," Prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmud told BSS.
Today was fixed for submitting the probe report in the case ICT BD Misc 1/25, and three accused then officer-in-charge (operations) of Shahbagh Police Station Arshad Hossain, constables Imaj Hossain Pramanik and Sujon Hossain were produced before the tribunal for the hearing. However, the prosecution pleaded for two months of time to file the probe report.
The ICT meanwhile, placed Arshad Hossain and Pramanik on a one-day remand each in the case. Of the two, Arshad will be interrogated on 2 March and Pramanik on 3 March respectively.
Apart from these, the tribunal also placed then sub-inspector of police Chanchal Kumar Sarkar on a one-day remand on 27 February.
Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tazul Islam, prosecutors BM Sultan Mahmud, Shahidul Islam Sardar and Gazi MH Tamim took part in today's hearing.
