Man sued over rape of two 6-year-olds in Bogura
One lands in jail, 3 arrested over separate rape incidents; properties of suspects attacked in 5 dists

A 45-year-old local man in Bogura allegedly raped two 6-year-old children, amid an apparent rise in such sexual violence against children and women across the country in recent weeks.
The incident reportedly took place in Kahaloo upazila on 12 March.
The children are undergoing medical examinations and treatment at the Victim Support Centre of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, Bogura, said Kahaloo police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Hannan.
The accused, identified as Nuru Islam from Kahaloo's Paikar Union, has been absconding since the incident.
OC Hannan said the two families of the children filed a case against Nuru on Friday night, and efforts are underway to arrest him.
In addition, police in Munshiganj, Sunamganj and Bagerhat arrested three people in connection with separate rape and attempted rape incidents, while in Nilphamari Sadar upazila, an accused was held over raping an 8-year-old.
The suspect in the Niphamari incident, Abu Bakkar, was sent to jail through the court today, said Nilphamari sadar police station Officer-In-Charge (OC) MR Sayeed.
In Munshiganj, police arrested a youth, Leon Fakir, 22, on Friday night from Kamargaon area of Sreenagar upazila, for allegedly attempting to rape a widow and stabbing her.
An attempted rape case has been filed in this connection, said Sreenagar police station OC Md Shakil Ahmmed.
In Sunamganj, police have detained a youth, Sabul Mia, 25, from Jahirpur village in Bhatgaon union of Chhatak upazila, for allegedly attempting to rape a 10-year-old girl.
As the news spread, agitated locals vandalised Sabul's house.
"He [Sabul] has been shown arrested [in a case filed in this regard] and sent to court," said Chhatak police station OC Mokhlesur Rahman.
In Kushtia, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a local grocer on 11 March.
The suspect, Sagjat, 50, from Shibpur area of the upazila's Harinarayanpur, has been absconding since then.
Angered by the incident, locals, including students, set fire to Sagjat's store.
Islami University police station OC Mehedi Hasan said, "Legal action will be taken in this connection."
In Bagerhat, a 63-year-old man, identified as Alkas Talukdar, was arrested on Friday night in a case filed over raping a three-year-old girl, confirmed Fakirhat police station OC Abdur Razzak Mir
