A video has gone viral on social media showing Md Ibrahim Sikder being shot dead by the shooter, identified as Sajeeb, in the capital's Nobodoy Housing Society in the capital's Mohammadpur area on Wednesday evening (16 July).

The footage also shows the attacker being caught and beaten by bystanders moments after the shooting.

In the video, a man wearing a white T-shirt, navy blue jeans, and carrying a black bag is seen walking with another individual. Without warning, he pulls a pistol from his bag and fires at a man nearby, who immediately collapses to the ground.

In response, onlookers rush in, grab the shooter and begin punching him.

The locals quickly overpowered the attacker and the man who was accompanying him, and handed them over to the police.

The victim, later identified as Ibrahim, 38, a professional driver, was shot near the Baitul Mamur Jame Mosque in the area under the Adabor Police Station at around 7:30pm Wednesday.

He was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Md Ibne Mizan confirmed the arrest of the suspects — Sajeeb, 32, the shooter, and his brother Rubel (35), who was also injured.

Both were admitted to the same hospital under police custody.

A foreign pistol with three rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle were recovered from their possession, said the official.

Adabor killing: Both suspects sent to jail as one confesses

Two cases have been filed against the brothers at Adabor Police Station.
