Man held over attempted rape of 4-year-old in Keraniganj
"The process of filing a case is underway," police said.
A man was caught red-handed by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) for allegedly attempting to rape a four-year-old child in the capital's Keraniganj area.
The suspect, Khaja Mohammad Shah Poran alias Rakib, 26, was detained around 11:45am today (23 May), confirmed RAB-10 Assistant Director (Media) Tapas Karmakar.
According to the RAB official, the victim and the accused lived in the same rented house.
The accused allegedly lured the child with chocolate and took her by autorickshaw to a jungle near the Jhilmil Residential Area at Keraniganj this morning. There, he allegedly attempted to rape her.
The official further said a local resident informed a patrolling RAB-10 team after noticing the incident.
The team then detained the accused on the spot and rescued the child.
"The victim's mother has filed a complaint with South Keraniganj Police Station, and the process of filing a case is underway," the RAB official said.
