Man arrested for raping 7-year-old in Jashore
The child was admitted to Jashore General Hospital in critical condition.
Police have arrested a man over allegations of raping a seven-year-old girl in Jashore.
The accused, Hafizul Islam, 40, who is reportedly a distant relative of the girl, was arrested this morning (3 March), Jashore Additional Superintendent of Police Abul Bashar told The Business Standard.
"A case has been filed against him on charges of rape. He was sent to court this afternoon, and the judge ordered that he be sent to jail," the police official said.
Speaking to TBS, the girl's grandmother said that yesterday afternoon (2 March), Hafizul allegedly took the girl to his rented house, telling her he would take her out for a trip. There, he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
At around 9pm, he brought her back home, after which she informed her grandmother about the incident.
The following morning, the grandmother took her to Jashore Sadar Hospital for treatment.
Jashore General Hospital Superintendent Dr Hussain Shafayat said the child was admitted to Jashore General Hospital in critical condition and is currently receiving treatment in the gynaecology ward.
