Locks broken, files ransacked as thieves target 3 Kushtia govt offices in one night
Three government offices in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia were reportedly targeted by theft in a single night, with officials discovering the incidents when they opened their offices this morning (9 March).
Mirpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazmul Islam said the affected offices had been inspected and a written complaint had been filed with the police.
"Police have started an investigation, and further details will be known after the probe," he said.
The incidents took place at the Assistant Commissioner (Land) office, the Sub-Registrar's office, and the Department of Public Health Engineering office.
According to police and sources from the respective offices, the thefts occurred at different times on Sunday night.
Members of a theft gang allegedly broke the locks of the entrance doors and window grills to enter the offices. Inside, files containing various documents kept in cupboards were found scattered and ransacked.
However, it could not be immediately confirmed whether any important documents or valuables had been stolen.
Police visited the locations in the morning. Law enforcement agencies said they have begun working to uncover the mystery behind the incidents.
