A Supreme Court lawyer has issued a legal notice to government authorities seeking action against those who were involved in irregularities in the government's programme of cash aid for 50 lakh poor people suffering from the fallout of the novel coronavirus.
The notice was sent to the official email addresses of the relief and disaster management, home and local government secretaries.
The legal notice asks that necessary action be taken against the people involved in the irregularities within five days of receiving the notice.

Advocate Maniruzzaman Linkon – in the notice served on Monday on behalf of the countrymen – said he would file a writ petition with the High Court if action was not taken.
He praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's initiative to provide the poor people with cash aid of Tk2,500 per person.
"We are disappointed and worried about the corrupt attitude and activities of a group of unscrupulous people as part of the most significant pro-people initiative undertaken by the government during such a serious national crisis," he added.
