Landlord arrested for throwing out tenant for rent

Police arrested two people including a landlord for allegedly throwing out and beating up his tenant, who was unable to pay three month's rent amid the coronavirus lockdown, in capital's Chawkbazar area on Tuesday.
The arrestees are - landlord Raju Ahmad and his nephew Sohan.
Elias Hossain, assistant police commissioner of Chawkbazar zone said, "On information, we rushed to the spot and rescued three people of the victim family. And then we sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

"The tenant couldn't pay three months' rent due to the shutdown. But they have a deposit of Tk 40,000 as advance," he added.
When the victim family went to request the landlord for considering their situation and adjust the rent from the advance, the landlord had beaten up the tenant using gym instrument, the assistant police commissioner said.
