Journo jailed for 10 days on charges of obstructing govt work, beating engineer in Satkhira

A journalist has been sentenced to 10 days in prison by a mobile court on charges of obstructing government work and assaulting an engineer in Satkhira's Tala upazila.
The incident took place inside the Upazila Parishad office this afternoon (22 April), Tala Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sheikh Md Russell confirmed to The Business Standard
The jailed journalist has been identified as Roknuzzaman Tipu (40), son of the late Ayub Ali of Mollahat in Bagerhat. He is the Tala correspondent of a national daily and currently resides at Mohallapara in Tala.
"He was also fined Tk200," said UNO Russel.
Meanwhile, Tala Upazila Engineer Rathindranath Halder said the work of improving the Upazila Parishad building under the supervision of Deputy Assistant Engineer Mamun Alam and Executive Assistant Mohammad Mohison today.
"Around noon, a person named Rokonuzzaman Tipu suddenly came and obstructed the government work. He also beat up Deputy Assistant Engineer Mamun Alam."
