Content creator Tawhid Afridi sent to jail in Jatrabari murder case, bail denied
Earlier, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) requested that Afridi be kept in custody following his five-day remand, citing the need to secure important evidence and prevent him from absconding

A Dhaka court has sent content creator Tawhid Afridi to jail, denying his bail, in connection with the murder of Asadul Haque Babu during the Students Against Discrimination movement in Jatrabari last year.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasib Ullah Piyas held the hearing today (30 August).
Earlier, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) requested that Afridi be kept in custody following his five-day remand, citing the need to secure important evidence and prevent him from absconding.
Investigating officer, CID Inspector Khan Md Erfan, appeared in court to request that Afridi remain in jail. He was presented in court around 12:30pm and later sent to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court lock-up.
Afridi's lawyer applied for bail during the hearing, while the prosecution opposed the request. After hearing both sides, the court denied bail and ordered that Afridi be sent to jail.
Afridi was arrested by the CID in Barishal on 24 August and placed on a five-day remand the following day.
According to the case statement, on 5 August 2024, Asadul Haque Babu was shot during the July Uprising in Jatrabari area and later declared dead at the hospital.
His father, Zainal Abedin, filed a murder case against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 24 others, including Nasir Uddin Sathi (22nd accused) and his son Tawhid Afridi (11th accused) at Jatrabari Police Station on 30 August 2024.
On 17 August, Nasir Uddin Sathi was arrested in Gulshan in the same case and sent to jail after a five-day remand.
