Husband, alleged extramarital partner detained after decomposed bodies of woman, daughter recovered in Faridpur
According to police and local sources, Jahanara and her daughter had gone to a relative’s house in Char Daulatdia Hat area on 4 May to attend a post-funeral gathering and had remained missing since then.
Police have detained a man and his wife's alleged extramarital partner for questioning after the half-decomposed bodies of a woman and her young daughter were recovered from a pit in Faridpur's Sadar upazila.
Police recovered the bodies yesterday afternoon (14 May) from a pit in the Kalitala Bonmali Majhi Para area under Char Madhabdia union.
The deceased were identified as Jahanara Akter, 32, of Daulatdia Parashullah Para area, and her four-year-old daughter Samia Akter.
Police brought Jahanara's husband, Amzad Hossain, and her alleged extramarital partner, Md Ujjal to Kotwali Police Station for questioning last night.
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Shahidul Islam said preparations were underway for filing a case, with the victim's father expected to be the complainant.

Locals said a woman named Kulsum Begum became suspicious while grazing goats near a banana grove on yesterday afternoon after noticing a dog digging at the soil. Sensing a foul smell, she approached the spot and saw what appeared to be a human heel protruding from the ground.
After she told locals, they alerted both Goalanda and Faridpur Sadar police stations.
Officers from both stations arrived at the scene and excavated the area to recover the half-decomposed bodies of a woman and a young girl from the pit.
