Hindu temple in Faridpur vandalised, idols damaged
While the identities of those responsible remain unknown, the police have assured that the law and order situation in the area is stable

A Hindu temple in Kanaipur of Faridpur Sadar Upazila was vandalised overnight, resulting in significant damage to several idols within the premises.
The incident is believed to have occurred between 8pm on Tuesday (29 July), and 5am on Wednesday (30 July), at the temple located in Ward-6 of Kanaipur Union.
Visiting the spot, TBS correspondent observed that multiple idols had suffered broken hands, fractured legs and teeth, torn hair, and other forms of defacement.
While the identities of those responsible remain unknown, the police have assured that the law and order situation in the area is stable.
The Faridpur police administration, alongside local authorities, law enforcement, and intelligence personnel, inspected the site and deployed additional officers to prevent any further disturbances.
Basudeb Biswas, president of the Khaskandi Public Temple Committee, discovered the damage during a morning walk, noting that broken parts had been left in front of the temple.
Sub-Inspector Mohammad Abdul Latif of Kotwali Police Station confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made so far.
He emphasised that law enforcement remains committed to identifying and apprehending those responsible while maintaining order.
