Four arrested over gang-rape of two RMG workers

Police on Sunday arrested four people in connection with a case filed over the alleged gang-rape of two garment workers in Gazipur's Sreepur area.
The arrestees Shahinul, Kalam, Jahangir and Babu, all hailing from Sreepur upazila, were sent to Gazipur court at noon while another accused Moksedul has been absconding since the incident, according to police sources.
The arrestees have been identified as drivers of various transports including CNG-run auto rickshaws and pickups.
The two garment workers, residents of Mymensingh, worked in a garment factory in Bhaluka upazila of the district.
"As the factory was closed on weekend, the garment workers went to visit Bidhai village of Sreepur upazila on the evening of Friday (August 21)," said Khandaker Imam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sreepur Police Station.
According to the details of the case, when the victims reached near to an abandoned farm in Bidhai village, the accused forcibly took them to a room of the farm and raped them.
The next day, the accused snatched the mobile sets and cash of the victims and released them from the farm.
Later on Sunday morning, one of the victims filed a rape case with the Sreepur police station.
