Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping his teenage daughter in Borpalla village of Faridpur's Bhanga upazila.

The arrest was made around 10pm last night (6 April).

According to family sources, the teenage girl had informed her mother and maternal uncles about the incident some four-five months ago. However, fearing social stigma, the victim's family members remained silent about the matter.

After the incident became known in the area, the accused father went into hiding. Eventually, the accused father came to the house last night, where the teenager's maternal uncle was present.

With the help of neighbours, he was detained, and the police were informed.

Later, police confirmed the crime through preliminary investigation and the victim's statement, after which they arrested the father and took him to the police station.

"The truth of the incident was initially confirmed with the victim's statement. The teenager's maternal uncle has filed a complaint with the police station as the plaintiff. Legal proceedings regarding this incident are underway," said Mohammad Asharaf Hossein, officer-in-charge of Bhanga Police Station.

The victim was sent to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital for a medical examination today, and the court sent the accused father to jail.
