Syed Almas Kabir, former president of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday (15 October).

Police arrested Kabir from his residence in Gulshan, said Iftekhar Hasan, officer-in-charge of the Mohammadpur Police Station.

He was arrested in connection with a murder case lodged with the Mohammadpur Police Station and will be produced before the court with remand prayer, he added.

Kabir is also the CEO of MetroNet, an IT company.

He also served as an associate professor at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), for 13 years. 

He has also been associated with North South University, City University, National University, and Northern University as a faculty member.
